Welcome to the HÚE-niverse!

If you’re reading this, you and your family already belong here. No questions asked.

Get the enrollment process started by filling out this quick form — you’ll hear from us within 48 hours. We’ll reach out to have a conversation, answer your questions, and set up a time for you and your kid to come see the studio.

All of our classes focus on creative expression. They’re a safe space to process emotions in an accepting community. Whether through beats on a drum or paint strokes on a canvas, this is a place for kiddos to land and be seen.

HERE’S WHAT WE’VE GOT GOING ON

All Classes usually begin with a small breathing or meditation exercise to slow everyone down and get the students, teachers, and volunteers into the same zone. Breathing and meditation also help our kids learn tools they can use to regulate and feel more in control of their feelings and emotions.

Painting Class:

Tuesdays and Wednesdays

4:00 to 5:15 (age 5-12)

and

5:30 to 6:45 (age 13-18)

These classes usually start with a small lesson on a particular art technique or artist, like Van Gogh’s impasto (swirling paint on the canvas). Then, students are turned loose to explore on their own, sometimes following the teaching closely and sometimes going in a completely different direction. Both are celebrated! Teachers and volunteers circle round and give technique advice, offer encouragement, and ask questions. And the students uplift each other, too. (They just do that! It’s not even scripted!)

COMING SOON:

HÚE Rocks Percussion:

Thursday

4:00 to 5:15 (age 5-12)

and

5:30- 6:45 (age 13-18)

Welcome to a drum circle like no other. Box drums and Djembe drums are the bread and butter, but often there are volunteers accompanying with voice, other instruments, and onlookers joining in with hand percussion. All levels welcome!

Knitting and Crochet Class with NANA HÚE

Monday

5:30 to 6:30

and

6:30 to 7:30

This is a cultural TEA PARTY and KNITTING CIRCLE sponsored by Metolius Tea and Fancywork Yarn Shop. This knitting and crochet class is for parents and children, and beyond being good fun, it also serves as a way to knit families and communities together.
