Art (Healing) Supplies for Classes at HÚE
Right now, HÚE has space for 50 kids a week (even though we have more than 100 kids signed up and many on the waitlist!) With more funding, the kids we have enrolled could come as often as they want to, have the supplies they need, AND we could get more kids in classes.
Food and Snacks for Hungry Kiddos
HÚE provides free snacks during classes. One day, we noticed some kids were eating 6 bags of chips. We realized some of our kids are dealing with food insecurity and aren’t getting enough food at home, so volunteers started buying take-home meals for our kiddos in need.
Living Wages for Our Staff
Right now, we have only one paid employee, our Executive Director, who makes $1,000/month. The rest of our staff are volunteers. We LOVE that generous people want to volunteer their time, but we also want to invest in some staff to keep HÚE efforts sustainable.
A Space Where HÚE Kids can THRIVE
You may have heard rent has gone up in Bend? Yeah, for us too. Right now we’re paying to rent a communal space with other individual artists. Our goal is to expand into a space where we can serve all of the kids who want to attend classes (because we certainly have the demand).

Provides paint for an entire art class of 20 students. From red and gray twisties to a serene Three Sisters landscape, kids process a lot of feelings through paint.

Covers costs for one student’s classes — art supplies, space, and teaching — for a whole month! Our average student comes once a week.

Because we’re founded by creatives, we have some out-of-this-world plans for our future.
THE DREAM is to build a HÚE-niverse where all types of art classes (theater, ceramics, sculpture, singing, musical instruments, and beyond) are under one roof and in abundance to serve all the kids in the Central Oregon community who want to attend. We’ll host art exhibits for the greater community and put on student film festivals and everything in between.
In this HÚE-niverse, all of life exists. The scary, the overwhelming, the joyous, the tragic, the mundane, the gut-wrenching, the kind. And we make art about it ALL. We process through community and creative expression. And therefore there is meaning. And therefore there is hope.
Oh, and the whole thing is shaped like a spaceship… or, rather, a HÚE.F.O.
